  1. Could you just please add in “designation (or identifiers)” box (at the top of ASD-CERT webpage) the grip length restriction which is from 003 to 010?
Double shear and tensile tests on EN2859-040021 screws: in 2006/2007, ISO7689:1988 was applicable. In this edition, there was no diameter restrictions specified in clauses 5.4.1 and 5.4.2.
As per ISO7689:2008, the following diameter restriction is: “bolts with a nominal diameter < 4 mm.”
This means that all bolts with a diameter strictly less than 4 mm are not subject to tensile and double shear tests. However, bolt with a diameter equal to 4 mm shall be tested.
Thus, in QTR table 5, why is it written “Not Required as nominal dimeter is 4mm (as per clause 5.4.1 in ISO7689)”?
Moreover, the grip length is equal to 21 mm, which is greater than twice the nominal shank diameter.

Mechanical tests (EN2859D040020): units in LFC’s report are in lbf (pound-force).
    Tensile test: 2,353 lbf = 10,47 kN
Double shear test: 3,729 lbf = 16,6 kN
    All results are compliant.
Just for information, EN2859 (both editions: 1995 and 2008) does not require any double shear test (please see clause 6).

EN2859D040020 – Mfg batch size is 132 parts.
For NDT, as per ISO7689, AQL=0,065%. Thus, sample size is 200 parts (down arrow marked against sampling line in ISO7689:1988, tables 8 and 9 / as per ISO7689:2008, tables 3 and 4). Thus, a 100% inspection should have been carried out instead of 32 parts.
Shall we have the same statement as for qualification 1129-1?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

Only have access to the 2008 version of this Document. As this was removed from the spec in 2008, it must have been considered as in the spec in error and these tests were not needed for 040 bolts.

These bolts are not being used by BAE systems in structural applications and only being used to hold harnesses in place.

In line with the current spec the parts meet the requirements

    Agreed
The qualification of new parts will make sure the correct number of samples are tested
