  1. Formally and surprisingly, EN3377 does not specify any passivation surface treatment. Anyway, it is always better to passivate (some exceptions do exist).

QTR, clause 3.1.1. Why do we have 0,18 N.m minimum for breakaway torque at 1st cycle?
This value (0,18 N.m) is applicable for the 2nd and 3rd cycles of three cycle test.
This is not really important since 15 cycle test is obviously compliant by considering 0,15 N.m at first cycle of 15 cycle test, but something to point out.
Just for reminder, minimum breakaway torque at 1st cycle for the three cycle test is: 0,3 N.m

Flow chart: for NDT, it is written “MPI”. It is not possible since A286 CRES is a non-magnetic stainless steel. I assume we are talking about FPI?…

    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

The Flow Chart EN3377-040 has been replaced by Flow chart EN3377-040, rev 1.
On page 2 of the Flow chart, the typo has been corrected. MPI has been replaced by FPI.

The same thing has happened with the QTR. The current QTR is now EN3377-040, rev A. On page 7 of 10, (paragraph 3.1.1.) the “1stste Cycle minimum breakpoint torque has been removed”.

So hope to have corrected the comments correctly.

  2. Kees,

Thank you very much for these updates!
    All is clear.
