  1. As per EN3299, annex B, ring or mandrel for reusability test (12 cycles) shall be made out of A286, uncoated. A286 is an austenitic stainless steel, precipitation hardenable.
In QTR, “nut of control” is made out of steel.
    Could you please clarify?
In addition, could you please confirm that ring or mandrel (or nut of control) has a pitch diameter in line with EN3299, table A.1? Apparently, this is the case since we have a pitch diameter value equal to 25,086 mm, but we have only a single value.
For reusability test at 12 cycles, EN3299, annex B specifies a lubrication with an approved aero engine graphite grease.
In QTR, it is written: “Lubricant additionnel / Lubrifiant additionnel : /”.
It may be surprising to get compliant locking and breakaway torque results with steel rings (or nut of control) and without any lubrication (12 cycles).

Hardness test: in QTR, we have 37 HRC value for all measurements whereas HV5 results, for the same HRC value, are either 361 HV5 or 364 HV5. Conversion issue? Rounded value? Other?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

    1. The QTR No8891A in the ASD website report # 1060 has been replaced by the updated QTR No8891B.

      * The raw material of the ring was A286 see QTR No8891B it has been updated (page 9 of 17).

      * Yes, because we use the same ring for the 3 parts

      * See updated in the QTR No8891B the lubricant was added (page 9 of 17).

      * Yes, it is because the HRC Scale is very poor in comparison of HV see document enclosed in the Additional Documents.

  2. Many thanks for these detailed and documented answers.
    Approved on my side now.
    Best regards.
