  1. I have reviewed the qualification and have following comments:
    – Compression set testing per EN3050 is ASTM1414D not ISO815-1,can equivalence be confirmed?
    – Packaging states ‘Product without storage limit’ where as specification requires ‘Unlimited Shelf Life’? Please explain?
    – I am struggling to make the link between the EN3050 hardness requirement and alleviation claimed per ISO 48-2. The ISO 48-2 note I do not understand to be a specific instruction that -10 IRHD as measured is acceptable. I will consult internal material specialists within Rolls-Royce and ASD-Stan for further guidance, but is there any further information you can provide/point to to alleviate this concern?

  2. Thank you Jon, Trelleborg Conde have supplied a new photo of the revised label stating that the shelf life is unlimited. They have corrected the test report to state that the compression set is in accordance with ASTM 1414D. Regarding the hardness being within the extended limits of ISO48-2, they have provided evidence that this was accepted as part of the original qualification including e-mails requesting that the hardness limit be removed for O ring testing if this method of micro-hardness testing is used and that the material hardness testing to EN2798 be used instead.

  3. As agreed with the reviewers, the word document “Use of ISO48 Micro Hardness Testing” has been modified to record the agreement with ASD STAN to modify EN3050 to allow hardness testing on material samples and not on the finished part.

    1. Based on the information provided from the acceptance of the initial qualification and the subsequent proposal to update the EN3049/3050 put to the ASD-Stan D3 WG3 I will accept the renewal.
